About Our Fine Company
In 1955, Jane Miller began her career with Rockel
Sheet Metal. At that time, there were only two other LENNOX
dealers in the entire St. Louis area. Five years later, Miller (along with
associates Al Kuennen and Don Herkenhoff) acquired the heating and air
conditioning department of Rockel, including the LENNOX dealership. The
three of them formed AL-DON Service
Inc.
AL-DON immediately set out to become an industry
leader, establishing the first Maintenance Agreements in the St. Louis
area for HVAC systems. With four annual service dates, the customers of
their shop were able to breathe easier knowing a competent organization
was taking care of business. The business grew exponentially during its
early years, largely due to the strong reputation that followed them from
customer to customer.
In 1967, Don Herkenhoff severed his ties with
AL-DON, choosing to pursue dissimilar personal interests. This left only
two principals, Miller and Kuennen, who became sole and equal partners in
the enterprise. Five years later, the outfit moved to Creve Coeur; the
business resides there to this day.
In 1977, Jane Miller assumed sole proprietorship
of AL-DON Service, Inc. In the following years, the company continued to
prosper under her leadership and business savvy; developing strategic
alliances with manufacturers and distributors that enabled them to offer
services unique to the area. A "Customized" Maintenance Program was
introduced that offered a high degree of flexibility in selecting
services.
In 1997, AL-DON began offering the computerized
diagnostic testing unit called the Infiltrometer (Blower Door). This
system allowed customers to view, first-hand, the efficiency level of
their Indoor Air System. AL-DON was the pioneer of this technology for the
St. Louis area. Also introduced was the HEPA-AIRE 99.97% filtration
efficiency Central Air Purification System. Again, AL-DON was trail
blazing; being the first dealer in the entire state.
AL-DON has traveled a considerable distance under
Jane Miller's watchful eye, and it will continue to grow under the
watchful eye of her son, Jeff Miller. Jeff assumed command in 2007.. The
company's newest objective is to redirect its efforts from selling HVAC
equipment and service to being a leader in "Whole-House Indoor Air
Quality". Jeff sits on the Board of Directors for the National
Air Conditioning Contractors of America and is a founding member of the
Indoor Air Quality Network. It is the desire of its officers that AL-DON become a "One-Stop"
solution for all your health, comfort and environmental needs.... and if
history is cyclical, there is no doubt it will happen.
